Workplace Quality

At Hanesbrands, workplace quality means that our facilities are safe, clean, and rewarding places to work. It also means that employees and the company act in accordance with a strict code of conduct and ethics.
Global Business Practices Foster a Culture of Integrity

To build and maintain our culture of integrity, we have a well-developed ethics and Global Business Practices (GBP) program. As part of this program, our employees are required to follow our detailed Global Code of Conduct (GCC), which are available in eight languages.
We keep ethical compliance top of mind for employees in a number of ways:
-
We use our Mirror Test to encourage employees to consider an ethical course of action. This test, which is posted in every facility worldwide, reminds us to ask ourselves three basic questions when confronting a difficult situation: 1) Is it legal? 2) What will others think? 3) Is it right?
- Hanesbrands provides a GBP Resources Line for employees that includes an anonymous, toll-free telephone number and online system that employees can use to ask for advice or report incidents or concerns. This line is operated by an independent third-party, offers coverage in more than 150 languages, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All complaints received through the resource line are fully investigated.
- We provide compliance and ethics training for new employees and ongoing communication to existing employees. Since 2007, we have conducted more than 50 live in-depth GBP training sessions to management level employees in 20 countries. Additionally, we have conducted worldwide training twice for more than 40,000 operator-level employees. We also administer in-depth online training courses to educate our workforce on key ethics topics.
Oversight responsibility for the GBP program rests with our executive vice president and general counsel, and a corporate social responsibility executive committee. This committee includes our CEO and his direct reports and meets quarterly to assess the program’s effectiveness. Day-to-day responsibility for implementing the GBP program rests with the vice president of corporate social responsibility and 16 business practice officers who each have responsibility for implementing the GBP program in a country and/or region of the world.
