In February 2009, 200 Hanesbrands volunteers dedicated 2,000 hours of work to renovate the 22-year-old San Juan Opico Health Unit in El Salvador, which was in dire need of repairs. Serving thousands of patients each week, the health clinic provides necessary care to many Hanesbrands employees and their families from two of our local manufacturing facilities.

Hanesbrands contributed more than $55,000 to improve the clinic’s structure, install a new roof, put in new wiring and improve plumbing. More than $28,000 went to purchase new beds, delivery-room equipment, a dental chair, and other much-needed medical equipment.

Additionally, Hanesbrands employees from around the world were chosen to travel to El Salvador to join their Salvadoran colleagues in the final weekend of volunteer cleaning, painting and landscaping around the clinic.
