Hanesbrands focuses on helping meet the fundamental needs of our communities, believing that a healthy, educated community is a thriving community. Our efforts ensure that communities receive greater access to health, welfare and education services through facility renovations, direct aid and equipment donations.

Health

One of the most effective ways in which we are able to provide support is through improving the healthcare and wellness systems in local communities. Our donations and employee volunteerism pay great dividends quickly for both our employees and their neighbors.

We have significantly improved the healthcare systems in:

  • Bonao, Dominican Republic – In August 2007, Hanesbrands assisted in the reconstruction of the pediatric and maternity wards of a local medical facility used by many of our employees and their families.
  • San Juan Opico, El Salvador – Hanesbrands donated funds to renovate a medical clinic in San Juan Opico, and our employee volunteers worked to repair the structure of the clinic and install medical equipment.

We also sponsor numerous health fairs around the world and provide additional support to improve the well-being of the communities where we operate.

Welfare

We look for opportunities to improve the overall welfare of our communities. One example is in Villanueva, Honduras, where Hanesbrands employees from several countries came together to renovate Hogar San Rafael, a home and school for orphan children.

Education

Hanesbrands knows education is a fundamental need of any community and has made contributions to education around the world. We are strong advocates because we believe that improved education has benefits for all parties involved. When people are exposed to greater opportunities, communities grow and we benefit from a trained, motivated workforce.

Some of our significant programs include:

  • San Juan Opico, El Salvador – Through our partnership with Rotary International, Hanesbrands improved a school in San Juan Opico, El Salvador, by providing much-needed supplies and additional classrooms.
  • Winston-Salem, N.C. – As part of our ongoing relationship with Carver High School, we have donated thousands of volunteer hours and significant funds to improve the educational opportunities for students.
  • Chaiyaphum Province, Thailand – Through a partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Hanesbrands employees helped to construct a new playground and provided supplies to students at three local schools.
  • Vietnam – In the future, we anticipate building six additional classrooms in the Thuy Luong secondary school located in Phu Bai, and helping to renovate the Yen Lich Kindergarten in Hung Yen, Vietnam.
