Employee Development
Employee Development Enhances Work Experiences
Employee involvement is core to the culture at Hanesbrands. This includes volunteerism in the communities where we live and work, but also extends to development opportunities that enhance employee careers.
- In Honduras, Hanesbrands pays nearly all of the required fees for more than 800 employees to return to school and receive their high-school diploma equivalent. Employees from 10 different facilities attend classes on Saturdays, and the first graduation class is expected in 2011.
- As part of Educame, an adult education program provided by the El Salvador Ministry of Education, 30 employees at Hanesbrands’ Bonaventure hosiery facility received their high school diplomas in 2009. Hanesbrands also purchased supplies and made an investment on behalf of each student. Some of the graduates are now planning to pursue advanced degrees.
- Hanesbrands has an ongoing relationship with the textile program at North Carolina State University. Employees regularly work with students, share ideas and act as mentors to aspiring textile scientists who may one day bring innovations to the industry or our company.
- Each year, Hanesbrands and its employees support a number of educational initiatives that improve the lives of children by volunteering their time in local schools. For example, each year, more than 60 Hanesbrands employees volunteer at Carver High School in our hometown of Winston-Salem, N.C.
