In response to the tragic January 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Hanesbrands quickly established lines of communication and support for contract sewing operations in the hard-hit area of Port-au-Prince. The owners of these contract operations made heroic efforts to account for employees and immediately supply them with food, water and needed necessities. More than 3,000 employees were back to work at much-needed jobs within weeks, and Hanesbrands donated more than $3 million in cash, clothing, food, water, family-size tents and other necessities to these employees, their families and the people of Haiti.

Hanesbrands also sent structural engineering teams to inspect for safety the facilities of our contractors and all other operations in the business parks where our contractors operate.

Around the globe – from Honduras and El Salvador to the Dominican Republic to Hong Kong to the United States – Hanesbrands employees donated tens of thousands of dollars on their own to international aid agencies, like CARE and the American Red Cross, to help Haiti.
